The Patela Care Foundation (PCF) Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Essay Competition for Senior Secondary School Students in Nigeria CAANEC 2022 has definitely been an inspiring season.
There were a lot of highlights in this year’s competition as we shared in the joy of the participants, their teachers, parents, guardians, family members, and loved ones.
Senior Secondary School students from across the country participated in the essay competition.
It was a competitive process as students displayed depth of knowledge of childhood cancers and proficiency in English language.
The following students however emerged top three finalists:
Hearty Congratulations to Miss Temiloluwa Adebayo of The Vale College, Ibadan (Winner), Miss Divine Oluchi Nkwocha of Government Secondary School Zuba, Abuja (1st Runner Up) and Master Michael Durowaiye of All Souls High School, Ibadan (2nd Runner Up).
One of the highlights of CAANEC 2022 with a unique and heart warming twist was with Master Salvation Oyama getting the special recognition award for participating in the essay competition despite being visually impaired.
It was a soul-stirring experience interacting with Master Salvation Oyama, his mother Mrs Christiana Oyama and his school principal Mr Samuel Okpe as they talked about their life journeys and what motivated them to be part of the CAANEC 2022.
Uplifting stories and experiences like this, motivates Patela Care Foundation to keep enriching lives.
To all participants; great effort, you are all stars. Keep soaring high.
This laudable Initiative (CAANEC) aims to promote excellence in health education, particularly in the field of cancer control which involves; awareness, advocacy, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, psycho social support and end-of-life care.
