I watched a movie based on a true story, some years ago. The plot goes thus; a forensic scientist’s testimony had put Mr Martins, a young man behind bars for manslaughter. He was going to serve 25 years in prison with hard labour without the possibility of parole. His wife died during childbirth a week before his prison sentence commenced. He wasn’t going to see his lovely daughter crawl, say her first words, go to college or get married. His best friend took up the responsibility of taking care of his daughter.a
Sixteen years later, a similar murder case occurred and with new development in DNA technology; it turned out that the forensic scientist made a mistake! and the law all this while, had an innocent man behind bars. The forensic scientist worked passionately with the state law department to acquit Mr Martins. On the day of his release, his daughter, the District Attorney and the forensic scientist were outside the prison walls waiting to receive him. In the midst of the joyful reunion, the forensic scientist cowardly hiding behind his daughter introduced herself, hoping to get a well-deserved backlash. To her shock and disbelief, Mr Martins warmly embraced her. She said stammering: I’m the one who put you behind bars. Mr Martin’s replied: No, you are the one who brought me out.
I thought to myself, Wow! this is the best scene in this movie as I penned down these words
“Forgiveness displayed is the best motion picture ever, the silent motivating force that makes life’s picture beautiful. Act Now!
Mr Martins went on and lived a good life. By the way, the best friend turned out to be the murderer!
Food for thought..
