WORLD CANCER DAY 2022 COMMEMORATION
#CloseTheCareGap

From The Desk Of The CEO Patela Care Foundation

The Commemoration of World Cancer Day 2022 #CloseTheCareGap, I believe has made some long lasting positive impact in clusters of rural and urban communities across Nigeria, Africa and on a global stage.
The passion and dedication of cancer advocates and stakeholders were inspiring and infectious.

Much effort has been invested on various fonts in reducing the impact of cancer burden in Nigeria. However, we can’t relent; beyond WCD 2022 commemoration, we have to do more because more people need to be reached and empowered with knowledge about regular screening, modifiable risk factors for cancer, engage government to expand Health Insurance Scheme for cancer care. This will reduce the financial burden on people occasioned by paying out of pocket.

Organizing programs may sometimes be physically and mentally exhausting but I’m particularly glad and inspired to have participated in positively impacting programs in various capacities with #ARCON, #POSON, #MWAN #NCS #RadiationAndClinicalOncologyDepartmentUCHIbadan, #CoalitionAgainstCancerOyoState and #PATELACAREFOUNDATION

*Outreach Programs to Churches, Mosques, Markets and Secondary Schools
*Media Engagements
*Press Conferences
*Cancer Awareness Walks
*On going Breast and Cervical cancer screening

We must continue to impact on our sphere of influence in closing the care gap in the cancer space.
